The Short Version
Your quiz answers are health-related information, and we treat them that way. Your answers and score are calculated in your browser and are not sent to our servers. If you choose to enter your email address to see detailed results, we receive and store that email address. We do not sell your quiz answers, your scores or your email address.
Quiz Answers and Scores
- Your answers are held in your browser while you take the test. They are not transmitted to or stored by DepressionTests.org.
- Your total score is placed in the page address after the # symbol (for example #score=12). That part of the address is not sent to our server. If you share or copy your results link, anyone who has the link can see your score.
- Your answers are health-related information. We do not sell them, share them with advertisers, or use them to build advertising audiences.
Your Email Address
- The results page asks for an email address before it shows the detailed breakdown. You can stop at the score if you prefer not to provide one, but the detailed breakdown needs an email.
- We use your email address to send occasional emails with mental health resources and updates from this site. Those emails may include links to services we have an affiliate relationship with, and they are marked as such.
- We store the email address together with the page it was entered on (for example, the PHQ-9 or GAD-7 results page). We do not send your answers or score along with it.
- We do not sell your email address, and we do not use it for advertising audiences or share it with advertisers. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate page views and traffic sources. It may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. Your quiz answers and score are not sent to analytics as quiz data. Cloudflare, which hosts this site, also processes standard request data such as IP address for security and performance. Affiliate Links (BetterHelp)
Some pages on this site contain affiliate links to BetterHelp, an online therapy service. If you click these links and sign up for BetterHelp's services, we may receive compensation.
When you click an affiliate link:
- BetterHelp may set their own cookies on your device
- BetterHelp has their own privacy policy that governs any data you share with them
- We do not receive any personal information about you from BetterHelp
- We only receive aggregated conversion data (e.g., "someone clicked and signed up")

Cookies
DepressionTests.org itself sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics may set analytics cookies, as described above. The site uses no advertising cookies. Cloudflare's CDN infrastructure may set technical cookies necessary for security and performance; these are covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
This site is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you are under 18, please take these screenings with the knowledge of a trusted adult and discuss results with a parent, guardian, or school counselor.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
